Why Bullet Journal is the Best Planner for People with ADHD

I have failed to be focused since my first memories at school. I feel like I’m tied, and at the same time, a lot of things are happening around me, but I can not even select one because, in an eye blinking, I start to think in another thing and another… It is like an infinite looping, and at the end of the day, I felt terrible because I couldn’t complete a simple task in my day.

Before I started a Bullet Journal, I have tried almost everything to keep my focus and be more productive. I believe the success of this methodology is because you can create and adapt it to your necessity in a specific moment which, helps me a lot once I do not have to follow the same structure and be distracted for something else as a regular planner.

What is ADHD?

ADHD, also called attention-deficit disorder, is a behaviour disorder, usually first diagnosed in childhood, that is characterized by inattention, impulsivity, and, in some cases, hyperactivity. These symptoms usually occur together; however, one may occur without the other(s).

What are the Benefits of Bullet Journal?

As I have mentioned before, the Bullet Journal Provides flexibility and, at the same time, simplicity. The only thing that is required is a pen and a Bullet Journal. There is a bonus for improving your memory encoding because our brain processes the information better when you write something helping you to memorize the things.

The Bullet Journal is just a simple notebook that will help a lot when you can not be distracted for a pop-up, showing something that will change your attention. I do not recommend to use the digital version of the Bullet Journal for someone who has ADHD.

The Bullet Journal provides the freedom of a regular notebook but with the structure of a planner. Ryder Carroll, the creator of the Bullet Journal who was diagnosed with ADHD in early life, defined a simple method that contains an Index, Daily, Weekly and Monthly activities. Simple as is but at the same time so powerful because this freedom is the key for people who have difficulty keeping their focus. There are numerous options and styles that will keep you motivated and organized at the same time.

Conclusion

For someone who has difficulties in tracking their activities, I do recommend trying to use a Bullet Journal for three reasons: Simple, Cheap and Efficient.
